Buddha in Blue Jeans
If there was a higher rating to grant this small taste of beauty and reality, I would grant it. So simple and delicious, I fly into its brief message and find enough yet endless knowledge. Just let go of all the stories and beliefs for a moment, then let go again and again.
This is one of the most basic yet insightful books I have read on Buddhism to date. While not proving a history on the practice it breaks down the fundamental actions required to follow the eightfold path. Learning to master the art of sitting in silence is, in my opinion, one of the most challenging aspects of the practice. In its simplest terms, learning to just be, this is where the majority struggle. This book gives simple examples and guides the reader through becoming present by focusing on the breath.
Zen Prayers For Repairing Your Life
This is a very accessible and immediately essential book, filled with prayers that anyone - regardless of their own faith or personal beliefs - can benefit from. There is literally a prayer for every situation and circumstance one will encounter, and some that can open us to a mindful way to respond to new experiences, too. No matter what we may 'assume' we will know about our feelings and responses, there are always going to be challenging events for which we feel unprepared, and this lovely book is a wonderful tool and resource for such moments.
Relax You're Going to Die
Don't be put off by the price (or lack of one) or the small number of pages. This poetic meditation on death is a wonderful gem. I've read most of Tai Sheridan's books, and they are all short and to-the-point. This book is no different. I've actually memorized the title poem and use it as a mediation. What do you have to lose? The price is right, so download this book and read it slowly, several times. You can't go wrong.
Heart-awakening. Written with simplicity and clarity.
Zen Prayers, has been a significant part of my life for the past two years. I listen to it or read/reflect on a portion every day. It's beautiful, simple words move me into living them in my day to day work and interactions with the people / world around me.
Simple, but powerful
This book is simple, but powerful. I refer to this book every morning before I start my day to help me to utilize right intention for that day. There are so many prayers covering so many major aspects of our lives that you can always find something new to contemplate.
Extremely good prayer book
I absolutely love this book and all of Mr Tai Sheridan's writing. I may not be Zen, but the prayers contained within this are very beautiful, short, and sweet. They're easy to memorize and you can get through a lot of it and the entire book most likely in one sitting at first. You can then use the index to pick which prayers you need to repeat, and you can calmly get through your day. The zen principles work very well, and they're good for anyone of any religion in my opinion because they just repeat and radiate calmness and centeredness.
Beautiful and Elegant
This is a lovely collection of prayers/intentions that go straight to the core of the most universal human experiences, especially those that cause interior suffering. I recommend this for anyone who would like to begin prayer or meditation practice but isn't sure where to begin -- a particular faith tradition (including Buddhism) is not necessary to appreciate the gifts of this book. I've been meditating for more than 30 years and am grateful to Tai Sheridan for this gift to my practice!
So spot on
I got this book years ago when I was just beginning my journey in this practice. I thought it was a nice thought. As time went by, I thought back and remembered thinking this wasn't a good description of the practice. I just stumbled across this book again after a horrible day. I read it front to back and realized this book perfectly describes the essence of being Buddha! You have lifted my spirits today. Thank you.
Helped me when I was very depressed
This extremely short, but concise book brought me back from a very dark and hopeless place. I was very depressed for a long time, and I felt like my internal compass was totally broken. I don't even remember how, but I stumbled on this book on the internet and gave it a try... Little did I know how this book would turn my life around! I built a new compass, and main points of this book became main components of my new compass.
Zenly MInimalist
It reminded me of a wonderful quote from Alan Watts:"I had a discussion with a great master in Japan, and we were talking about the various people who are working to translate the Zen books into English, and he said, 'That's a waste of time. If you really understand Zen... you can use any book. You could use the Bible. You could use Alice in Wonderland. You could use the dictionary, because the sound of the rain needs no translation.' BUDDHA IN BLUE JEANS is like that.
Mind Blowing!
This is a very short but very powerful read! The author simply eliminates all the extra nonessential literature that you would normally find in any book, he gets right down too it and says what needs to be said. Honestly, this book was fairly life changing and told me exactly what to do in order to free my mind, to calm me, to better help me understand things around me, and most importantly how to just let everything go and find myself. Considering this is a free book, I highly recommend you download and read it! Now that I have read it, I would have paid for it. Stop debating, and stop reading my review and just read this book!!
A good short read for anyone with a serious life threatening illness to read.
This is really a book of poems regarding death yet it does make the point of how short life really is, one can suddenly face death by illness or accident. This book would be a help to someone say with terminal cancer to read or other serious illness. This book is an eyeopener regarding the subject of death (a fate we will all have to face at one time or the other).
A brilliant, peaceful philosophy
As someone who has an excessive fear of death (particularly catching infectious disease with a ridiculously low probability of doing so), I am indebted to the message of this book: which is that all beings die, and to worry about death is to die in itself. Rather than worry about the distance between your two doors - birth and death - realize that life is more than the length of a piece of string. And this book has helped me to attain freedom from my own shackles. One day, one breath, at a time. Thank you, Tai Sheridan
Real surprise!
Read. This!! This will blow your socks off! Simple as that!
There is no woolly alternative nonsense here, just unexpected clear thinking . A breath of fresh clear air. No fear in death...
Masterpiece!

Mindfulness at its' peak
Tai Sheridan, delivers quality books over and over. This is one of them, enjoy.Short and sweet as ever .
Brilliantly kind book Having practiced zen off and on for a long time this tiny free book put me right back into it. He uses wording that made me see zen in ways that I had not thought of before. I have read this book now probably 20 times and sometimes check the internet to see if a hard copy is available. also his "relax you are going to die" is quite good.
