The simplest things are always the most precious. Tai Sheridan has shown this to be true. Tai Sheridan, delivers quality books over and over. This is one of them, enjoy. Short and sweet as ever . This book gives simple examples and guides the reader through becoming present by focusing on the breath. This is a very accessible and immediately essential book, filled with prayers that anyone - regardless of their own faith or personal beliefs - can benefit from. There is literally a prayer for every situation and circumstance one will encounter, and some that can open us to a mindful way to respond to new experiences, too. This poetic meditation on death is a wonderful gem. I've read most of Tai Sheridan's books, and they are all short and to-the-point. This book is no different. I've actually memorized the title poem and use it as a mediation. I fly into its brief message and found enough yet endless knowledge. Zen Prayers, has been a significant part of my life for the past two years. I listen to it or read/reflect on a portion every day. It's beautiful, simple words move me into living them in my day to day work and interactions with the people / world around me.
I refer to this book every morning before I start my day to help me to utilize right intention for that day. There are so many prayers covering so many major aspects of our lives that you can always find something new to contemplate. I absolutely love this book and all of Mr Tai Sheridan's writing. I may not be Zen, but the prayers contained within this are very beautiful, short, and sweet. They're easy to memorize and you can get through a lot of it and the entire book most likely in one sitting at first. I've been meditating for more than 30 years and am grateful to Tai Sheridan for this gift to my practice! This is a very short but very powerful read! The author simply eliminates all the extra nonessential literature that you would normally find in any book. He gets right down too it and says what needs to be said. Honestly, this book was fairly life changing and told me exactly what to do in order to free my mind, to calm me, to better help me understand things around me, and most importantly how to just let everything go and find myself. A good short read for anyone with a serious life threatening illness to read. This is really a book of poems regarding death yet it does make the point of how short life really is, one can suddenly face death by illness or accident. Read. This!! This will blow your socks off! Simple as that! There is no woolly alternative nonsense here, just unexpected clear thinking . A breath of fresh clear air. No fear in death. |
